HALLSTATT
Enter life in Hallstatt immediately at the front door. If you decide to stay, you will get to know more about this place than just a surface picture.
Those who take time can experience the complexity of the historical imprint of this exceptional setting. Hallstatt needs and deserves time – you can't understand a thousand years in a day.
Located in the centre of the Inner Salzkammergut
Hallstatt is not only a very special place to be discovered, it is also a perfect starting point for exploring the Inner Salzkammergut. Bad Goisern, Gosau and Bad Ischl as well as Bad Aussee and Altaussee on the Styrian side are very close. Furthermore, the Hallstatt region is surrounded by the lakedistrict around Lake Wolfgangsee and the more alpine Grimming area next to Bad Mitterndorf. The Enns Valley, even further south, the Traunsee region with Gmunden further north, as well as the city of Salzburg are also attractive destinations that can be reached comfortably by public transport or by your own car with a bit longer but charming journey.

World Heritage and World Natural Heritage Region
Hallstatt and the Inner Salzkammergut have been given both the status of World Heritage and World Natural Heritage by UNESCO. The region at the foot of the Dachstein has been inhabited since prehistoric times. Salt mining shaped the cultural history from early cultures to industrial mining, which is still clearly visible throughout the area today.
Variety and richness of the region
The Salzkammergut lake district is perfect for excursions, sightseeing, cultural or culinary discovery tours: Walks along the eastern shore, picturesque hiking trails to waterfalls in the Echerntal, mountain tours on the Dachstein massif, the ski areas on the Krippenstein or in Gosau, golf clubs, kayak and canoe trips, diving centres, but also mountain bike marathon competitions of international format in a network of routes - the Inner Salzkammergut region offers a variety of activities that everyone can discover and experience individually.
