We live in Hallstatt. Apart from visiting our grandchildren or spending time in an urban environment for visits to museums, theatres or concerts, we spend most of our time here, inhabiting a house in the Roman quarter of the village that is more than 400 years old. In Ruth's House, which is located in our immediate neighbourhood, we welcome guests who want to get involved with Hallstatt and the Inner Salzkammergut.

Before his retirement, the host was principal of the Higher Technical College in Hallstatt and can tell a lot about his famous school. He was also born in Hallstatt and therefore knows the village and the whole area very well. In any case, today he is also responsible for the firewood in front of your fireplace and it can happen that he rows guests out onto the lake with his typical Hallstatt boat called “Fuhr”. As a passionate fly fisherman, he knows everything about the fish in the lake.

Your hostess is responsible for the design of the house as it looks today. She has cleared out and renovated the house, reviewed the whole inventory and rearranged everything. She also takes care of the flowers and plants in the small garden. It can happen that she is standing in front of the door with a piece of apple strudel, but definitely with a glass of homemade jam. She is also a bookworm and likes to help out with reading and giving advice. She knows where to get the best coffee in Hallstatt, how to get to the bakery or the weekly market, or in which shops you can find nice souvenirs.
